Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) Film

TPU film is a versatile substrate material that is extruded from either polyester or polyether, and can be used as a standalone textile or further laminated to surface materials to enhance performance of the finished textile.

TPU film is a high-performance material that possesses the durability of rubber while retaining the physical flexibility found in thermoplastics.  It features excellent elasticity, transparency, low-temperature performance and resistance to oil, grease and abrasion.

TPU outperforms and often replaces PVC due to its superior durability, cleaner manufacturing process and because it is plasticizer-free, hypoallergenic, non-toxic and anti-microbial.

Applications for TPU

TPU’s unique performance qualities make it a preferred base substrate to a variety of applications including medical, industrial and recreational fabrics, protective films, water-resistant and breathable textiles, waterproof inflatables and bladders.
